A Visit to Costa Rica

A team from BioTek US travelled to Costa Rica for our 4th Latin American Sales Meeting. After many hours of travel, weather and mechanical delays, we made it to San Jose. We proceeded to drive on a gorgeous mountain road to La Fortuna, Costa Rica. It was a fantastic drive and our first exposure to the vast beauty of this country. When we arrived at the Arenal Kioro hotel, we were warmly greeted by the staff. There, at the foot of the Arenal Volcano, we spent the next few days in what became one of our most memorable meetings to date.

We had some great meetings to discuss new products with our distribution partners. We looked at BioTek’s new instruments including the new Synergy H1 Hybrid Multi-Mode Microplate Reader, the Epoch Microplate Spectrophotometer and the new MultiFlo Microplate Dispenser. When it was time for work we worked hard…then it was time for adventure.

The Skytrek/Skytram is a series of zip lines hovering in the heights of the canopy and totaling a length of over two miles . We took the challenge on and there was a look of amazement, excitement and unbelievable satisfaction in everyone’s face once the trek was done.

After a night of celebration and recognition of our partners’ successes, capped by a fireworks display under the volcano, we all parted ways to take on the challenges that lie ahead. We left with a closer connection to each other, the closeness we all share as part of the BioTek family, and with deep appreciation and thanks to the host country of Costa Rica for the beauty and setting it provided.
