I heard a story on the radio yesterday about using songs to communicate scientific ideas. The songwriter-in-residence program from NIMBioS and the University of Tennessee is indeed unique, and I'm eager to hear more science-based songs. Discussing research with fellow scientists is relatively easy - we speak a similar language. But what about communicating your research to non-scientific co-workers, your family, or even the passenger next to you on a plane? How do you describe your work without using technical jargon that scientists take for granted?
And if you've ever written a song about your research, we'd love to hear it!
