Experimental Biology 2011

BioTek was one of more than 300 companies exhibiting during the Experimental Biology 2011 conference held last week in Washington DC, typical for this important annual event. But more impressive by far was the number of scientific attendees of this meeting. Nearly 11,000 of the world’s brightest scientific minds converged at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for 5 days of poster presentations, workshops, symposia and lectures on  wide-ranging contemporary topics. The Experimental Biology annual meeting is made up of a variety of societies;  this year the meetings included the American Association of Anatomists, the American Physiological Society, American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, American Society for Investigative Pathology, American Society for Nutrition, and American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. Throughout the vast convention hall, a myriad of scientific poster presentations were made with thousands of researchers milling through the columns and rows of posters.  Beyond the walls of the convention center, Washington D.C.’s famed cherry blossom festival events were in full swing, a special “extra” for those whose days were spent imparting or absorbing fascinating developments from the world of Experimental Biology.
